Learning Objectives:

After completing this program, participants will be able to:
  • Describe the 2018 guidelines and recommendations for the treatment of bipolar disorder.
  • Discuss the management of bipolar disorder while keeping in mind the impact of inflammation, obesity, and metabolic sequelae on the outcome in patients who have been diagnosed with bipolar depression or are at risk of bipolar disorder.
  • Describe the varied manifestations of pure and mixed features in bipolar disorder; assess the potential risks and benefits of antidepressant use in mixed and non-mixed presentations of bipolar disorder; and recognize evidence-based treatments for bipolar depression.
